Kenfig Hill Home

Ammanford BaaBaas 15    Kenfig Hill 10.

Having been well beaten by Kenfig Hill in the away fixture this was always going to be a tough test for the BaaBaas, but the boys were up and ready for the battle. It turned into a game of two halves with the home side dominating the first half and the visitors the second.

First score went to Outside-half Carwyn Richards after a delicate, clever offload from Jason Rosser, Richards also added the conversion. The only other score of the half was yet another Rosser/Richards one two, when another smart pass by Rosser put Richards over for his second try. Half time was 12-0.

Kenfig Hill were the better team in the second half and came back into the game with two unconverted tries, the second of which was under the posts but miraculously it was sliced wide by opposing outside-half.

Ammanford stayed positive and were rewarded with a penalty which Richards put over. It took some strong determined defending from the home team during the final 15 minutes to keep out the visitors, with the clock ticking into the final minutes Ammanford stayed composed with some tight rolling mauls and rucks, with the referee indicating the end of the match it was left to Cerith Evans to clear the ball into the dead ball area, from 5 meters in front of his own posts with the referee lifting his whistle to his mouth to blow for the end of the game, the kick by Cerith hit the crossbar and fortunately for him rebounded in to the hands of Liam Poole who sidestepped the post before completing the kick into the dead ball area! Final score a 15 - 10 victory.
